Nationally-known professional falconer Jan Prymaka and his team have taken displays of flying birds of prey to a new level. They have re-created the spectacle of an authentic Elizabethan Hawking Party, which depicts how aristocrats would ride out together on their estates, or on moors, heaths and commons, with their falconer and their birds of prey, to fly them at partridge, grouse, duck and ground game.

It's a fascinating display, full of history, colour and movement, as the birds fly to and from the fist, and swoop on their simulated prey.

The displays last either 30 or 45 minutes, depending on your programme, and make an ideal - and decidedley different - main ring attraction. When they are not flying, the birds of prey are kept on bow perches and blocks under a colourful canopy, just like a mews, where visitors can see them close up, and find out more about this facsinating sport.
